Economic Development Coordinator Needed
The Main Street Economic Committee continues to work toward fulfilling the goals set in the Five-Year Strategic Plan (Plan) developed by the committee as required by Louisiana Economic Development and Louisiana Municipal Association to become a certified Louisiana Development Ready Community.
The five pillars of the Plan include Economic Development, Education, Parks/Recreation, Broadband, and Telling Our Story. The all-volunteer committee has set goals within each part of the Plan to assist the city and surrounding communities in business development and support, capturing education opportunities, being competitive and attracting growth, and for the improvement of the community as a whole.
The committee has identified a need for a full-time Economic Development Coordinator (EDC) who will be responsible for implementing strategies and executing plans that support economic growth and vitality of the community.
The committee has begun the application and interview process for the position which is funded by contributions from local businesses, private foundations and public funding.
Qualifications of a candidate for the position include a four (4) year degree and two years of experience in economic development activities.
